Printmaking

Concertina Book

This piece was made in a junk-journaling type of manner, using scrap pieces of paper, receipts and tickets accompanied by rough sketches to document my recent trip to Japan. This work was a day-by-day creative challenge I had set myself to keep creating while away from my usual creative routine. From two pens, glue and scissors came a vivid story of my friend and I’s trip through the bustling cities and slow countryside that Japan had to offer.

Linocut

This work was created using carved linoleum to create a relief print using ink on paper. The design of a dragonfly was chosen as they embody evolutionary resilience.  They are an ancient creature which has found ways to adapt to changing climates over millions of years, their ability to adapt and thrive in an ever-changing world is a trait I would like to take on.

Collage

After starting to explore shape, colour and composition using basic materials to create collage, I was faced with the reality of waste usage in this practice. After reflecting I decided to challenge myself to use only materials I already had to create my final resolved work.

After discovering an overwhelming amount of blue and green scraps I decided to make an ocean inspired work and create a commentary on overconsumptions impact on aquatic life. Emphasized through the use of plastic waste I found at the beach which was layered on top of the final piece.
